An Architect and Philanthropist in Bayelsa State, Reuben Okoya has called for the support of the electorate in Bayelsa state for candidates of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections.
Speaking to newsmen on Monday at Famgbe community in Yenagoa metropolis at the end of a rally, Okoya, who has been part of the campaign train of PDP candidates, described PDP as the party to be with and support for the stability and unity of the state.
In his words: “PDP is the party to be with. PDP is the party to support. PDP has actually been in Bayelsa all this time and has done great works. We need to support our party all the way to sustain the gains made so far in the socio-economic development of the state”.
“We are all working hard to ensure that PDP stays in the state for greater things to happen. Nobody knows what tomorrow brings, but we are all hopeful that we will all be a part of the development of Bayelsa for the children of the future.”
Speaking on the candidates, he described them as great since they emerged through the primaries saying they were properly screened and properly elected.
Okoya said Hon. Douye Diri, Bayelsa Central Senatorial candidate of the PDP has legislative experience as he is already in the House of Representatives.
He said the candidate for Yenagoa/ Kolokuma, Prof. Steve Azaiki, a philanthropist and educationist, has been Secretary to the Government in the state and a commissioner.
He also said the House of Assembly candidate, Oboku Oforji has been a local government chairman and the three men are seasoned candidates.
On why he is on the campaign train with the candidates, Okoya said as a bona fide member of the party, he must show support to the various candidates across the state and add his goodwill to the advantage of his party.
“It’s just a show of solidarity. Of course, I belong to the central zone, so I’m following the central zone campaigns and other zones as well to show support, absolute support for the PDP,” he stated.
Architect Okoya’s support campaign for all the PDP candidates has taken him to the three Senatorial zones in the state. Two weeks ago, he was at Ogbia to campaign with chief Blessing Izagara, the Senatorial candidate, Mitema Bodor, a House of assembly candidate and other candidates. Last week, he campaigned with Hon Fred Agbedi, who is seeking votes to return to the House of Representatives for a second term and Ewruhjakpor all in the Bayelsa West Senatorial zone.
Okoya urges Bayelsa people to return people 100% to enhance the continued progress in the state in the last 19 years of PDP. He equally thanked the people for their massive turn out at all the rallies in the state.
